Dotty blog tour!

Hi, everybody!

Just wanted you to know that Dotty and I have taken our spotted selves on the (virtual) road to go visit some of our favorite blogs! We kick it off today at The Happy Nappy Bookseller: http://bit.ly/bhqADN

Please stop by and say hi! And catch us at these other great blogs, too, now through 9/10:

9/1 Alison’s Book Marks
9/2 A Patchwork of Books
9/3 Jean Little’s Library
9/4 Pragmatic Mom
9/7 Links to Literacy
9/8 The Book Bag Blog
9/9 The Hiding Spot
9/10 Bookmark, The First Book Blog

I am on an actual train now, so I can't tell if these will come through with the links intact. If not, have no fear. I will fix them asap!

And mark your calendar: 9/11 at the Princeton Children's Book Festival in person with LOTS of great author pals (and a few imaginary friends)!

Another Dotty sighting!

For an imaginary friend, she sure is visible! Popping up all over town, much to my (goofy, extremely obvious) delight.

Barnes and Noble is dotty for Dotty!!!

As everyone knows, I'm an independent bookstore kind of gal. However, after writing for children for more than a decade, I had a chain-bookstore first today: I saw my new book, Dotty, on PROMINENT DISPLAY at Barnes and Noble! And not because I put it there when no one was looking - honest.

Yes, Barnes and Noble loved them some Dotty and put her in its back to school promotion nationwide!!! So if you want to meet her in person, skip on down to your local Barnes & Noble or go to their dot-com site (which also has her in the Back To School Top Twenty!). Please also visit Dotty at your local indie bookseller, if you are lucky enough to have one near you.

P.S.: Fashion trend for fall! Yellow polka-dotted dresses!

A Party for Dotty!

Dotty actually had TWO birthday parties:

a lovely virtual one (www.twitterbookparties.com or @bookbday)

and a fabulous real live one, courtesy of one of my favorite bookstores, The Flying Pig, at one of the prettiest places on earth: Basin Harbor Club, in Vergennes, VT.

Thanks to all who organized and celebrated with me and my dear friend, Dotty!

At the Basin Harbor Club party, we read books (including the birthday book, Dotty, of course!) and we did fabulous Dotty crafts dreamed up by Jen Wyman and her events team at BHC. These included decorating Dotty friendship boxes (perfect for storing important items like, say, long blue strings) and making Dotty pinwheels (perfect for running across grassy stretches with your best friends, real and imaginary).  Email me if you want to know how to do either activity as I am now an expert!  Erica "at" ericaperl "dot" com.

Truely Dotty fun and true bliss!

Happy Birthday, Dotty!

Yesterday was Dotty's (book) birthday, and when I get home from my travels I'll post pix of the fabulous party we had. But in the meantime, here's a photo of the unofficial Dotty postergirl (note the dress!) with her new book:
