Go, Bulldogs!

I'm giving a shout-out here to the fabulous Kindergarten and First Grade Bulldogs at Laytonsville Elementary School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I had the pleasure of visiting with them on Friday (thanks to the kind invitation of their wonderful Library Media Specialist, Rich Parker, and the generosity of the school's PTA) and let me just say that they were a treat! They'd all read my books and greeted me warmly, they eagerly participated in Chicken Butt! as Reader's Theater, and they brainstormed their own rhyming books (which, I hear from Mr. Parker, some of them are already working on... can't wait to see!).
I gave them a sneak peek at Chicken Butt's Back! and, judging from their reactions, that book is going to cause some milk to come out of some noses as well (my books should come with a warning label: "do not read during lunch!"). BUT that is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned.
All in all, a great day with some great kids. Thanks again for inviting me, and go, Bulldogs, go! Or should I say, write, Bulldogs, write!
